Neodymium Fluoride (NdF3) 99%, 99.9%, 99.99%, 99.999%
Neodymium fluoride is purple powder, which is a kind of rare earth fluoride. Neodymium oxide and neodymium nitrate are raw material. Neodymium(III) fluoride is insoluble in water, hydrochloric acid, nitric acid and sulfuric acid, but soluble in perchloric acid. When compound with ammonium fluoride, it form NH4F.NdF3 that is insoluble salt.
Formula: NdF3
CAS No.: 13709-42-7
Molecular Weight: 201.24
Density: 6.5 g/cm3
Melting point: 1410 °C
Appearance: Pale purple crystalline or powder
Solubility: Insoluble in water, moderately soluble in strong mineral acids
Stability: Slightly hygroscopic
Multilingual: NeodymFluorid, Fluorure De Neodyme , Fluoruro Del Neodymium
Application: Neodymium Fluoride is mainly used for glass, crystal and capacitors, and is the main raw material for making Neodymium Metal and alloys. Neodymium has a strong absorption band centered at 580 nm, which is very close to the human eye's maximum level of sensitivity making it useful in protective lenses for welding goggles. It is also used in CRT displays to enhance contrast between reds and greens. It is highly valued in glass manufacturing for its attractive purple coloring to glass.
