Ellipsoidal head (also called elliptical head or elliptical dish end) is usually made with Carbon steel, stainless steel, austenitic and non ferritic metals that can be cold worked. The shape of this ellipsoidal head is more economical, because the height of the head is just a fraction of the diameter. The elliptical dish end radius varies between the major and minor axis usually with the ratio is 2:1. The elliptical tank head is the economical solution for medium pressure tanks due to the reduced metal thickness requirement.

Main Features

1.Ellipitical head is composed of half ellipsoid and a cylindrical straight segments. The Straight section can avoid mutation of radius of curvature between the connection welds of the head and cylinder, thus improving the stress status of the welds.
2.As The Meridian curvature change of ellipsoidal part of the tank head is smooth and continuous, the stress distribute uniformly.
3.Easy to punch forming compared with the hemispherical head, because the depth of ellipsoidal head is smaller than the hemispherical head. (elliptical end cap)
