VCSEL Array
VCSEL is Vertical Cavity Surface Emitter Laser, a new generation laser diode. Compared to traditional Edge Emitting diode laser (laser bar), VCSEL has several advantages, like a reduced wavelength sensitivity to temperature, increased reliability, especially at high temperatures and low-cost manufacturing

So VCSEL array is a very attractive pumping source for solid state lasers. And it’s very suitable for the following cases:
1)  Nd3+:YAG pumping. Nd3+ has a very narrow absorption linewidth at 808nm (2nm FWHM). The narrow spectrum of VCSEL can guarantee a high pumping efficiency.
2)  Vehicle-borne lasers and aerospace lasers. Vehicle-borne equipment and aerospace laser need to adopt to wide temperature range. VCSEL has a small
wavelength-temperature coefficient and can guarantee a high pumping efficiency at a wide temperature range.
3) High-temperature operation laser. The max operation temperature reaches 85℃, which makes it very suitable for military usage, like range finding and target designating.
4) Commercial high-energy high-repetition laser. Life time and cost are two important factors which limit the development of commercial diode-pumped high-energy solid state lasers. The long life time and low cost of VCSEL make it very suitable in commercial high-energy high-repetition lasers.
VCSEL-pumped gain module
For QCW DPSSL gain module gain distribution, pumping efficiency and life time are three most important indices. The gain distribution has two effects on beam quality. On one hand the energy density distribution sets the distribution of the gain and the nonuniform gain distribution result in changes of intensity distribution in near field; On the other hand thermal effect in the gain medium cannot be ignored at high frequency. Uniform energy density means uniform heat density and the wave-front distortion is parabolic, which can be regarded as a lens and compensated easily. While nonuniform energy density results in high order distortion which is hard compensated for and reduces the focusing ability of the beam. In multi-pass amplifier these effects come worse.
Based on several-year efforts on DPSSL gain module and our VCSEL technology, Laserconn can provide DPSSL gain module with uniform gain distribution, high pumping efficiency and a long life time. We have two types of gain module, namely water-cooled cylindrical gain module and all solid state gain module. We also provide customized gain module.
