Tungsten, with high melting point and resistance, good intensity and low evaporation pressure, fits for the heating element. Put in a vacuum chamber, the film material (aluminum, chrome, indium etc.) will evaporate in this specific environment of high vacuum, influenced by the the heating element(tungsten heater). Then evaporation molecule (or atom) emitted from the film material. As the diffusion mean free path of evaporation molecule becomes longer than that of the chamber, without the interfere of other air molecule, the evaporation molecule (or atom) could reach the substrate. For the lower temperature of substrate, the evaporation molecule would condense on the substrate, turn into shiny and beautiful film.

Tungsten is widely adopted in the vacuum coating industry, the coating for vehicle light, mirror, bottles, jewelry, different products of plastics, ABS, PP and some other decorations etc.
