Mode of Action&Uses
Soil fumigant, acting by decomposition to methyl isothiocyanate (q.v.). Metam-sodium is a soil sterilant, applied prior to planting out edible crops, which controls soil fungi, nematodes, weed seeds and soil insects. Applied at 15–60 g metam/m2 (7–28 g methyl isothiocyanate/m2).
