How to choose the right variety and good quality dragon fruit plant for your farm ?
Dragon fruit (Hylocereus undatus), also commonly known as pitaya, strawberry pear and night-blooming cereus,is grown as a perennial vine in USDA plant hardiness zones 10 and 11, where no prolonged freezes capable of killing this cactus will occur.
It is possible to propagate dragon fruit sexually using seed, although plants grown from seed do not necessarily offer the same desirable fruit and stem characteristics as the parent plants. So stem cuttings are frequently used to propagate this tropical plant.
Properly taking and preparing dragon fruit cuttings will encourage rooting success and minimize disease problems.
