Pale pink to pale brown powder, it sublimating at the temperature over 76 in atmospherical enviroment, easily to decarboxylate and change into phenol and carbon dioxide when heated quickly. Its aqueous solution appears acid reaction, becomes purple with FeCl3. Slightly soluble in water, soluble in boiling water, easily soluble in ethanol or ether.
