Ammonium propionate is white crystal. Melting point 45. Soluble in water, ethanol and acetic acid. Has strong hygroscopicity, detumescence in moist air. By the reaction of propionic acid and ammonia. Used as antiseptic, antifungal agents. Formed under acidic conditions in the free acid, has antibacterial effect. The lower the pH, the better anti-corrosion.
