1.Brief introduction and Technical Specification


 


Ultra-filtration is an advanced technology to separate, purify and concentrate substance . It presents hollow capillary tube shape or hollow fiber shape, micro-pore covers tube wall densely. Feed liquid is flowing in or out the membrane under the influence of pressure, dissolvent or small molecule can permeate membrane and become pure liquid by collection, while large molecule (such as  protein, each kind of enzyme, nucleic acid, polysaccharide and so on) ,colloid particle (such as emulsion, micro-ion) and bacterium are cut off by the membrane and are taken off by the circulating liquid flow to become concentrating liquid.

1. As shown in Chart 2, complete pipelines connection to ensure no leak; If quantity of UF module is large, recommend install 2 line of UF modules;


2. Open Valve 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 11, close valve 10, 12 and 13, regulate valve 8, 9 and 11 to pressure 0.2Mpa shown in gauge;


3. Entire UF system of water production is about all the UF modules of the total



Methords of cleaning UF module


 


The physical cleaning method of UF hollow fiber membrane:


 


This method is to use mechanical strength to wipe off the infection on the membrane surface. The whole cleaning process will not happen to any chemical reaction.


 


1)Flushing method with equal pressure power: According to the hollow fiber UF membrane, equal pressure flushing method is an effective way. The specific method is to close the outlet valve of UF product, open the concentrate outlet valve totally, at this time, the inside and outside pressures of hollow fiber are equal, the dirt attached on the membrane surface because of pressure differences will relax, depending on the increase flux to flush the membrane surface, it is effective to wipe off amount of soft impurities.


Detailed operating step:


Single UF module ( Chart 1 )


Close up valve 2 and valve 3;


Open totally valve 4;


From valve 1,increase feeding flowrate to proper degree;


wash cleaning frequence 30-60min;


 


Double or more UF modules (Chart 2)


Close up valve 4, 5, 6, 7, 11, 12, 13, let other valve open totally;


From valve 1,increase feeding flowrate to proper degree;


3.  Wash cleaning frequence 30-60min;


 


2)Back flushing method with negative pressure: it is a flushing method processing from the negative to the positive direction of membrane; it is relatively feasible to the hollow fiber membrane. It is an effective but high venture method. In case of operating wrongly, it is easy to split the membrane or destroy the hollow fiber and the felt surface of the felting solvents to leak out.


Detailed operating step:


Single UF module ( Chart 1 )


Close valve 1 and 3, let valve 2 and 4 open totally;


Feeding purified water from valve 2 under entering water pressure 0.2mpa, then regulating pressure, make pressure drop to range of 0.10-0.15mpa;


Warning: strictly prohibit pressure drop reaching 0.25mpa;


washing cleaning time: 60second; frequence: 20-60minutes;


 


Double or more UF modules (Chart 2)


 


First line:


Back wash cleaning UP mode


Open totally 2, 12, 6 and 13, Close up other valve, feeding purified water from valve 12 under entering water pressure 0.2mpa, then regulating pressure,make pressure drop to range of 0.10-0.15mpa;


Back wash cleaning DOWN mode


Open totally 12, 4 and 10, Close up other valve, feeding purified water from valve 12 under entering water pressure 0.2mpa, then regulating pressure,make pressure drop to range of 0.10-0.15mpa;



Second line:


 


Back wash cleaning UP mode


Open totally 2, 12, 7 and 13, Close up other valve, feeding purified water from valve 12 under entering water pressure 0.2mpa, then regulating pressure,make pressure drop to range of 0.10-0.15mpa;


Back wash cleaning DOWN mode


Open totally 12, 5 and 10, Close up other valve, feeding purified water from valve 12 under entering water pressure 0.2mpa, then regulating pressure,make pressure drop to range of 0.10-0.15mpa;


 


Warning: strictly prohibit pressure drop reaching 0.25mpa, quick wash repeatedly to reach the best results;


washing cleaning time: 60second; frequence: 20-60minutes;


 


The chemical cleaning method of UF hollow fiber membrane:


 


Utilize some kind of chemical medicine’s chemical or dissolving functions to get the cleaning target, operated with the impurities on the membrane surface. The regulation of choosing chemical medicine: First, do not act any chemical reaction or dissolving functions with membrane and other module materials; secondly, do not arose the second pollution because of using chemical medicine.


 


1)Acid washing method: Usual acids are hydrochloric acid, oxalic acid, citric acid and so on. After put up, the PH of solution can be decided by the materials. For example, CA membrane cleaning liquid PH=3~4, other PP, PS, SPS, PAN , PVDF membrane PH=2.Using water pump to operate circularly or marinate 30-60min., has great effects to wipe off the abio-impurities.


 


2)Alkali flushing method: Alkali in common use is: sodium hydroxide, potassium hydroxide and sodium carbonate etc. the ph to put up alkali solution is decided by membrane material, except the CA membrane requirement PH=8, others PH=12, all utilize water pump circle operating or marinate 30-60min.,it is effective to wipe off organic impurities or grease;


 


3)Oxygenation cleaning solvents: Utilize 1%H2O2 300mg/L NaClO etc water solution to flush UF membrane, not only wipe off the dirt but also sterilize, H2O2 and NaClO are the usual sterilization.


 


4)Flush with wash adding enzyme: wash with enzyme such as 0.5%~1.5%pepsin , Trypsin, there is great functions to wipe off protein, amylase grease pollution.


 


Recommend the following cleaning step for reference:


(1)First, use clean water flush the whole UF system, the water temperature should be the relative high temperature endured by UF module


(2)Choose appropriate lotion to process circularly cleaning. The lotion could include EDTA or phosphate


(3)Use clean water to flush, wipe off the wash


(4)compared the Flux under the stipulating conditions. If not getting the anticipating value, repeat the second and third cleaning process.


(5)Use 0.5% formalin solution to process sterilizing reserve.


Warning: after chemical wash cleaing, using purified water as feed water, working 60min.,prevent from second pollution;
