A: There are many factors causing inaccurate blood volume collected:

  (1) Patient is too nervous while the blood specimen is collected from her/him.

  (2) Individual differences exist in various patients.

  (3) Incorrect venipuncturing place

  (4) Normative blood collection operation

  (5) Environment (altitude, temperature )

  (6)Vacuum blood collection tube is broken by external force, causing the vacuum leakage.

  (7) Other factors

Q2. How to avoid hemolysis happen during or after blood is collected into vacuum blood collection tube?

1. A. (1)Collecting blood as per preset volume in the tube.

   (2) Invert lightly the tube 5-8 times immediately after collecting blood, heavy shaking is forbidden after collecting blood.

   (3) Sufficient centrifugation time and speed shall be applied to the tube collected with blood specimen if centrifugation is required.

   (4) Try to make the blood flow alongside the inner wall of tube while collecting blood. It’s not recommended to make blood flow heavily and rapidly, and directly to the tube bottom.
