The SLE5542 is a standard, low-cost memory smartcard. It has 256 bytes EEPROM memory plus 32 x 1 bit protection memory. The SLE5542 is a fully-compatible, upgraded version of the SLE4442. Infineon has migrated the data carrier family to the IMEM CMOS technology. IMEM is conceived for security applications and offers unsurpassed physical and electrical protection schemes.

Security features:
1. Every byte in write protection area (the first 2bytes) can run write protection individually, the content cannot be changed
(data solidification) after write protection.
2. All data can be read before password is proved, the data can be encrypted if necessary.
3. Can be written or changed after password is proved
4. User password of 3 bytes can be changed after being proved, it will be valid until the battery is out.
5. The initial value of incorrect password calculator is 3, 1 will be less if the password is proved wrong for 1 time. If the
value of calculator is 0, the card will be locked,which means the data can be read only, cannot be written, changed or continue to prove the password; if it is not 0, it can go back to initial value as long as the password is proved right just for once.
6. Byte address 21-26 is the user code, we canset the global unique code for big users to issue conveniently(all the cards cannot be changed after release)
7. Byte address 0-5, 6-7 have been set before release and cannot be changed.
