PCMX (P-Chloro-m-Xylenol) is a antimicrobial chemical compound used to control bacteria, algae and fungi in adhesives, emulsions, paints and wash tanks. It is also commonly used in antibacterial soaps such as Dettol. Studies have shown a low anti microbial activity which is enhanced by additives. Its antibacterial action is due to disruption of cell membrane potentials.

1. Hospital and general


Patient skin disinfection before surgery; sterilization of equipment; daily cleaning of equipment and hard surfaces to avoid cross-infection; antibacterial soap can be produced by PCMX, Hong Kong foot fungicide and general first-aid supplies . Coating surface: added as a fungicide in coatings, suitable for use in humid environments; glues and binders: prevent microbial decomposition, avoid odors, block filters and corrode metals, prevent product failure; leather treatment: prevent mildew , against bacterial and fungal attack (especially salted fur, plant leather and salted or air-dried raw hides). Textile finishing and post-treatment: pre-impregnation of the fibers.



 


Recommened Dosage: 0.2-5.0%


Using Method: Add PCMX to a solution of alcohol, benzene, ether, etc., and then mix with other materials. Certain nonionic or anionic surfactants completely dissolve PCMX and do not form associations.
