PA6 Description

 

PA6 (polyamide 6) is translucent or opaque crystalline polymer with a specific gravity of 1.12-1.14. It has the characteristics of thermoplastic, light weight, good toughness, good chemical resistance and durability. Widely used in automotive parts, mechanical parts, electrical and electronic products, engineering accessories and other products.

 

PA6 Features

 

1. High mechanical strength, good toughness, high tensile and compressive strength.

2. Corrosion resistant, very resistant to alkali and most salt liquids, also resistant to weak acids, engine oil, gasoline, aromatic hydrocarbon-resistant compounds and general solvents.

3. Self-extinguishing, non-toxic, odorless, weather resistant, inert to bio-erosion, good antibacterial and anti-mildew ability.

4. Excellent electrical properties, the electrical insulation is good, the volume resistance very high, and the breakdown voltage is high. In the dry environment, it can be used as a power frequency insulation material, and has good electrical insulation even in a high humidity environment.

5. The parts are light in weight, easy to matching color and molding. It can flow quickly due to its low melt viscosity.

 

Compared to PA66

 

The chemical and physical properties of PA6 are similar to PA66. However, it has a lower melting point and a wide process temperature range. It has better impact resistance and solubility resistance than PA66, but it is also more hygroscopic. Because many of the quality characteristics of plastic parts are affected by hygroscopicity, this should be noticed when designing products with PA6.
