Introduction
Doctor Blade is widely used in gravure, flexography, coating and printing areas. It’s suitable for the speed more than 130m middle high-speed machine.
Flexo printing presses are available in may different sizes from 200mm to over 4meter.while single reverse angle blade systems are used for the smaller press,the midsize and larger presses are normally equipped with enclosed doctor blade systems.printing speed also varies from 50 m/min to 450m/min.the wiping doctor blade is always applied in a reverse angle between 30-40 degrees.Due to the abrasive surface of ceramic anilox rollers,minimal doctor blade pressure is always recommended.equally important for good doctor blade life is the relationship between cell configurations and blade tip thickness.
The flexo industry uses mainly 0.20 mm thick blade,in some cases 0.15mm.enclosed blade systems do not require a back-up blade.based on the application ,lamella,bevel or straight blades with rounded edges,like the MDC flexo blade,are used to meter the ink.for high quality process printing,the label printing industry uses a lamella as thin as 75 microns.as a rule, a thinner blade edge allows for a cleaner wipe.

Standard blade thickness : 0.15mm,0.20mm.
Blades are available in pre-cut sizes of any length or in coils of 50m,100m and 200m.

Points for improving printing quality
Use a high quality super edge doctor blade with dimensions suitalbe for your ink and anilox type.
Inspect the doctor blade holder for damages. Dents, nicks or bends make the doctor blade setup wavy.
Try to achieve a 55-66 degree contact angle between doctor blade and cylinder.
Use a blade pressure of 0,5-1,0 bar, increase more if there is no clean wipe.
Check so doctor blade extensions are correct.
