Fucoxanthin is extracted from Fucus Vesiculosus.It is also called phycoxanthin.It is natural pigment of xanthophyll in carotenoids,accounting for more than 10% of the total amount of about 700 kinds of natural carotenoids.Its color is light yellow to brown,and it is the pigment contained in brown alge,diatoms,goldenrods and yellow-green algae.Widely exist in various algae,marine phytoplankton,shellfish and other plants and animals.It has anti-tumor,anti-inflammation,anti-oxidation,weight loss,nerve cellprotection and increase the content of ARA(anthocytotetraenoic acid)and DHA(docosahexaenoic acid)in mice.It is widely used as a medicine,skin care and beauty products and health care products in the market.
Function Of Fucus Vesiculosus Extract
1.Anti-tumor Effect
Fucoxanthin has inhibiting effect to skin cancer,colon cancer,hematological malignancy,prostate cancer and liver cancer.
2.Antioxidation
Fucoxanthin has good antioxidant effect, even better than vitamin E and vitamin C. Fucoxanthin has a protective effect on uv-b induced injury of human fibrocytes. The antioxidant effect of fucoxanthin is mainly by regulating the activity of Na+ -k + -atpase and the activity of catalase and glutathione in tissues and molecules caused by the deficiency of retinol.
3.Anti-inflammatory effect
Fucoxanthin may play an important role in a variety of inflammatory responses.
4.Lose Weight
Fucoxanthin eliminates fat accumulation in two ways. Fucoxanthin activates a protein called UCP1, which promotes fat breakdown. It also stimulates the liver to produce DHA which lowers cholesterol levels.
5.Other Function
The dietary seaweed of sea urchin contains fucoxanthin and has significant effect on phagocytosis and ovulation of macrophages.
