Natural durability: Moderately durable under exposed conditions

Preservative treatment: The timber is very difficult to treat with preservatives

Color and texture: Sapwood is moderately well-defined. Heartwood is brown with a red or pink tinge or redbrown. Grain is shallowly to deeply interlocked. Texture is moderately fine and even 

Strength properties: The timber falls into Strength Group C or SG 5

Machining properties: It is slightly difficult to difficult to resaw and is easy to slightly difficult to cross-cut. Planing is easy to slightly difficult and the quality of finish is generally smooth but the green material shows some grain pick-up in the radial direction

Nailing properties: Good

Drying: The timber seasons fairly slowly with very few defects
Uses: Suitable for light construction, interior finishing, panelling, superior joinery, furniture, flooring, boat construction, interior fittings, sliced veneer for decorative plywood and pallets
