Nappy Knowledge:                                                                                                             

Towelling nappies are available in a range of absorbencies. They should be used in conjunction with Mothercare nappy liners and waterproof pants. Each baby is different shape. Terry squares can be folded in a number of different ways; one of these should suit your baby. More advantageous than shaped nappies, as they are a once only need to buy large sizses as your baby grows. More advantageous than disposable nappies, as they are a once only purchase. Overall they will cost you substantially less than disposable nappies. 

 

Nappy care and laundry:                                                                                                    

Nappies need to be washed, dried and aired after each use. Avoid using blunt nappy pins, as these will damage the nappy fabric. Holes can be prevented by varying the position of sharp pins. Avoid using fabric softener, as this leaves a coating on the nappy fibres which decreases absorbency. 

 

Nappy rash:                                                                                                                        

The main cause of nappy rash is prolonged skin contract with a soiled nappy. Baby's nappy should be changed as often as necessary and his bottom kept clean and dry. Frequent exposure to fresh air and suing  Mothercare's advanced nappy  cream will help keep baby's skin clear, but should the rash persist, seek the advice of your healthcare visitor or doctor. 

 

Baby skin care:                                                                                                                   

Clean baby's nappy area with Mothercare cotton wool and warm water or lotion, or clearn with Mothercare baby wipes.
