Phenyl methyl silicones are generally recognized as very effective pumping fluids for diffusion pumps. They offer excellent resistance to oxidation and are thermally and chemically stable.

Zhan-oil 704 silicone oil is a tetramethyltetraphenyltrisiloxane with low vapor pressure and great thermal stability, it is desirable in process such as vacuum coating, metallurgical works and various other applications. It provides fast pump down times with good ultimate pressure characteristics 1x10-8 Torr.
The Zhan-oil 704 silicone oil for diffusion pumps can be alternatively used to the silicone oil DC704, INVOIL 704, CVC-4, Hivac F4, AN174, INDOMET TETRA, etc. These oils have the same chemical formulation and can be mixed.
