There are two kinds of Jade, Jadeite and Nephrite. Jadeite is scarcer and valuable while Nephrite is more abundant.
Western Canada is the major source of modern lapidary Nephrite. The other Nephrite which is lately used is from Siberia.
No mater it is Jadeite or Nephrite, all the semi-finished and finished products are manufactured in Guangdong. And Guangzhou is the sale center.
About 40-50 years ago, Nephrite is called Taiwan Jade, the material was imported from Canada. A lot of Nephrite Jade products were manufactured, such as beads, cabochons, carvings, finished Jade Jewelry, etc. Even now, you still can find many Jade factories in Taiwan.
