  • Material introduction

Cast tungsten carbide is a carbide with a high hardness,a high melting point and high wear resistance. with tungsten metalpowder and tungsten carbide as the starting materials,it is prepared as mixed powder at a ceratin ratio and the mixed powder is put into graphite boats,and then it is smelts into a lattice structure of WC and W2C. It becomes cast tungsten carbide lumps after casting and cooling. It is then crushed and sieved to prepare cast tungsten carbide of different grain sizes,i.e.cast tungsten carbide in powder form. it can also be put into steel tubes of different diameters based on different grain sizes,i.e.tubular cast tungsten carbide welding rods.

  • Range of applications of cast tungsten carbide

Cast tungsten carbide as a wear resistant strengthening material has a wide range of applications and these mainly are:

1.Mining industry:Build-up welding of parts of rock crushers,auger tips,twist drills,scraping plates of scrapers,teeth's coronas of drilling tools,fishtail drills,teeth of tricone bits and support claws of tricone bits,etc.

2.Civil construction: the edges of shovelling buckets, parts of bulldozers,scraping plates,parts of earth agitators,clawer beltsof tractors,etc.

3.Agriculture: for columnar teeth of threshers,edges of drills,ploughs,teeth of shovels,etc.

4.Architecture: for spiral crushers for cement,cement loaders,bick scrapers,cutters,earth mixing machines,kiln digging shovels,etc.

5.Miscellaneous:Build-up welding can be used in industries of  steel, machinery, sugar, wood, papermarking and on hammers for crushing coal in power plants,etc.Substantially increasing the lifeti-me of parts and components.

  • Two way of the build-up welding of cast tungsten carbide 

1.Build-up welding with Oxygen-acetylene

Tubular cast tungsten carbide is build -up welded mainly by means of Oxygen-acetylence flames,Cas tungsen cabride grains do not melt themselves and they adhere to the workpieces with the help of molten steel tubes and substrate metals, normally the tempetature for build-up welding is 1600-1700ºc. there will be no change in the structure of cast tungsen carbide at such atemperatures and it still keeps its original high hardness and wear resistanc.

2.Build-up welding with electric arc

It has the follwing advantages as compared to the welding of cast tungsten carbide with Oxygen-acetylene: it is easy to opetate with high efficiency:the quality is good with few air pockets:the materials welded with cast tungsten carbide have a wide range of applications: There is tight adhesion between the welded layer and the substrate:A big surface area can be welded.
