Correct use and maintenance of the pH meter (PH meter)

The pH meter is called the PH meter. It consists of two parts, an electrode and an electric meter. It is also known as a sensor and an instrument. If the electrode can be properly maintained during use, the standard buffer and the correct operation of the electricity meter can be greatly reduced, which can greatly reduce the pH indication error and prolong the service life, thereby improving the reliability of chemical experiments and medical tests.

(1) Correct use and maintenance of the electrode

1.When not in use for a short period of time, it can be fully immersed in distilled water or 1*10-4 hydrochloric acid solution. However, if it is not used for a long time, the instrument should be placed in a dry place. Do not dip with washing liquid or other water-absorbing reagents.

2.Check the bulb tip of the glass electrode before use. Under normal circumstances, the electrode should be transparent, free from cracks, and the bulb should be filled with solution, allowing the presence of traces of air bubbles.

3.When measuring a solution with a large concentration, shorten the measurement time as much as possible. After use, carefully clean it to prevent the liquid to be tested from adhering to the electrode and contaminating the electrode.

4.After cleaning the electrode, do not wipe the glass film with the test paper. Use a filter paper to dry it to avoid damage to the glass film, prevent cross-contamination, and affect the measurement accuracy.

5.Note that the silver-silver chloride internal reference electrode of the electrode should be immersed in the chloride buffer solution to avoid digital jumps in the electrode display. When using, gently rub the electrode several times.

6.The electrode should not be suitable for use in strong acids, bases or other corrosive solutions. Unless the special electrode is used, the general electrode should not be placed in a liquid over 100 ° C (used in accordance with the instructions).

7.It is strictly forbidden to use in dehydrating media such as anhydrous ethanol, potassium dichromate and the like.

(2) Standard buffer configuration and storage

1.The PH reference material should be stored in a dry place. If the mixed phosphate PH standard substance is deliquescent when the air humidity is high. If deliquescent, the PH standard substance cannot be used.

2.To configure the pH standard solution, use double distilled water or deionized water. If 0.1 level PH measurement is used, ordinary distilled water can be used.

3.The pH standard solution should be diluted with a smaller beaker to reduce the pH standard adhering to the beaker. The plastic bag or other container for storing the PH standard material should not only be clean, but also rinsed with distilled water several times, then poured into the configured PH standard solution, and the PH configuration solution is accurately packaged.

4.The configured standard buffer solution can generally be stored for 2 to 3 months. If turbidity, mold or precipitation is found, it cannot be used.

5.The alkaline standard solution should be sealed and stored in a polyethylene bottle. After preventing carbon dioxide from entering the standard solution, carbonic acid is formed to lower its pH
