How is the oil extracted/processed?
Our organic peppermint essential oil is steam-distilled from the leaves and stems of the flowering peppermint herb (Mentha piperita). That means, steam is used to separate the plant’s oils from its water, rather than hexanes or harsh chemicals.
Can I use it in skincare blends?
Yes! When using our peppermint oil for skin care blends like a massage oil, scalp oil, lotion, foot soak or body scrub, dilute it so that it makes up 1% of the blend (as a rule of thumb, that’s about 6 drops per 1 oz of other fluid). Why? Since all natural peppermint oil is highly concentrated, it should be used with care (that means, doing a patch test first is a good idea, too.)
