SIP--Structural Insulated Panel
Product Description
Structural insulated panels (or structural insulating panels), SIPs, are a composite building material. They consist of an insulating layer of rigid core sandwiched between two layers of structural board(Ours is TSM board). The board can be sheet metal, plywood, cement, magnesium oxide board (MgO) or oriented strand board (OSB) and the core either expanded polystyrene foam (EPS), extruded polystyrene foam (XPS), polyisocyanurate foam, polyurethane foam or composite honeycomb (HSC).
SIPs share the same structural properties as an I-beam or I-column. The rigid insulation core of the SIP acts as a web, while the sheathing fulfills the function of the flanges. SIPs combine several components of conventional building, such as studs and joists, insulation, vapor barrier and air barrier. They can be used for many different applications, such as exterior wall, roof, floor and foundation systems.

Storage and Shipping
Storage:
1. Terasun boards should be stored flat, raised from the ground on a pallet, in dry conditions indoors and be under cover.
2. Boards should not be leant upright for long periods of time.
3. Any moisture allowed to infiltrate between the sheet will cause surface staining (though it won't greatly influence the boards' performance).
4. They should be protected from the weather and other trades on site all the time.
5. Boards should always be lifted by 2 people and not dragged across each other to prevent unnecessary scratching or damage.
6. Boards should be carried on edge and extra precaution should be taken to protect the visible front and corners.
