5.What is stitch-bond non-woven fabric?

The stitch-bond non-woven fabric, known as Lixin fabric in Chinese, belongs to the group of non-woven fabrics and is manufactured on the Maliwatt stitch-bonding machine produced by the German-based Karl Mayer.
 
A stitch-bond non-woven fabric is made on a weaving machine that bonds the web, or holds the web in place, with longitudinal yarns. While other common fiber-bonding methods used in the production of non-woven fabrics—needle-punch, thermal-bond or chemical-bond—have the drawback of stiffening the texture of non-woven fabrics, the stitch-bonding method gives non-woven fabric a texture as soft as that of the original web.
 
By holding the web in place with the stitch-bonding method, the surface of a non-woven fabric is flatter than that of other nonwovens. At later production stages of stitch-bond non-woven fabrics, acrylic resin can be added for fixation and texture adjustments. Other treatment additives can also be added during the later production stages for a flame-retardant or water-repellent treatment. The production process of stitch-bond non-woven fabrics is therefore more flexible and varies to a larger extent than other nonwovens.
