PCD wire drawing die

Polycrystalline diamond, sintered from micron-sized diamond particles and a binder (cobalt or silicon) under high temperature and pressure conditions. Polycrystalline diamond billets are mainly divided into three types: non-reinforced ring type, with reinforced ring type and heat stable type.

For each type, a polycrystalline core with a particle size of 1 to 50 microns can be selected according to the surface quality requirements of the wire. The diamond particles in all the polycrystalline cores are freely aligned, which makes the wear of each polycrystalline mold uniform, ensuring the roundness of the wire.

According to the different needs of customers, our company has domestic cobalt-based PCD die and domestic silicon-based PCD for customers to choose, the aperture manufacturing range is 0.04mm-35mm (larger or smaller size according to Customer requirements are customized)

The domestic PCD core selected by Coolervie is mainly from well-known domestic manufacturers, and it is a better product with performance close to imported polycrystalline. The domestic PCD drawing die produced by our company has the advantages of long wire drawing life, high smoothness, high mold concentricity, accurate die parameter control, etc.

Finished Dies

◆ Blank inspection-All PCD, MONO/SSCD, ND, and TC dies produced by Coolervie are checked under Microscope by 100X material magnification, so that dies with any impurities, cracks and spots could be easily detected and rejected. If these cracks or spots exist, the abnormal internal-stress will cause die cracking during die manufacturing or wire drawing process.

◆Outer casing production:Only high-quality casing can be a good carrier for high-quality dies. Coolervie uses excellent stainless-steel materials, and completes three sets of process: cutting casing, creating setting area, and creating blank area in the cutting process of fully automatic machine tools, ensuring the perfect concentricity without moving the die shell.
◆ Reinforcement-Diamond should be firmly protected by metal matrix, which is formed by the sintered metal powder, reinforcing diamond to endure wire impact without breaking and to extend wire die life. Coolervie's auto-sintering process is accomplished by the combination of an infrared sensor, auto-feeder and a high frequency sintering machine.
◆ Coning-An automatic turning machine completes front and back cones and two parallel flats.
◆ Cylindrical grinding-In order to ensure the precise dimension and roundness of casing, every casing should be ground by centerless grinding machine to tightly control the tolerance within 5 microns.
◆ Laser die profile drilling-The precision and consistency of our dies profiling has been improved dramatically since we purchased a state-of-art laser die drilling unit. A double side profile drilling is achieved by this most up-to-date laser drilling machines.

◆ Shaping and polishing-Advanced automatic or semi-automatic ultrasonic die working machine ensure the accurate die profile and good surface finish.
◆ Hole size calibration-Wire lapping machine is used for controlling precise tolerance of die hole.

Suitable blank size

Normally, soft wires use blanks of 1-5μm grains while hard wires use  blanks of 5-50μm grains to meet the production requirements.
