Introduction:
Colorless acicular or flaky crystals soften at 277 ~C and decompose at 287 ~C. The solubility in water is 41.9g/L at 25 C, slightly soluble in alcohol, insoluble in ether and chloroform. It's sweet. L-histidine is extracted from pig blood and cattle blood. Pig blood was dried with spray dried blood powder and 18kg blood powder per 100kg pig blood. L-histidine is commonly used as its hydrochloride ([7048-02-4]). The eluent containing L-histidine is concentrated until crystallization occurs. When the hydrochloric acid is heated to pH 2.5, ethanol twice as much as the solution is added immediately. The crude product of L-histidine hydrochloride is obtained by static precipitation and filtration. The product is decolorized, recrystallized and dried. L-histidine can also be extracted from hydrolysate of defatted soybean.
