alum is a compound of Aluminum, same as Aluminum Chlorohydrate, Aluminum Zirconium, Aluminum Chloride, and Aluminum Hydroxybromide . Any form of aluminum sulfate could be called "alum" and they could also be called "mineral salts". This type of alum is "potassium aluminum sulfate" They can all be called "natural" because they are all found in nature, same as mercury can be called natural.
