BPM client is an infrastructure construction company in Sri Lanka who builds artificial landscape lakes in Chilaw City, Sri Lanka. During the construction process, artificial lakes were found to have leakage problems. The loss of artificial lake water will cause later greening and unsightly treatment and affect other buildings around. Moreover, the artificial lake has a complicated structure and various shapes. Generally, there are curved river channels, protruding piers, artificial islands of various shapes, and irregular stone retaining walls. Different landscape revetments, landscape garden anti-seepage, such as rigid waterproof, it is likely to cause cracking and leakage due to uneven settlement of the foundation, unable to achieve the best anti-seepage effect, but also costly and long-term construction. The RPE pond liner is the ideal waterproof lining product to prevent the artificial lake from leakage. The anti-seepage of artificial lake is a problem that cannot be ignored. Through technical analysis, the customer finally chose HDPE geomembrane pond liner as the artificial lake anti-seepage material. Geomembrane as the artificial lake anti-seepage material has light weight, large elongation, good anti-seepage performance, less deformation, simple construction and low cost, etc.
The artificial lake has a complicated structure and is curved. Therefore, the thicker geomembrane pond liner is not suitable for customers. When the thickness of the film is less than 0.35mm, the welding process is difficult to hold when welding with hot-melt welding machine in the field, which is easy to be welded. It causes leakage of geomembrane, so according to the customer’s construction characteristics, we recommend using a geomembrane RPE pond liner with a thickness of 0.75mm, which is moderate in hardness and easy to weld.
