Deep hole honing head
Deep hole Honing is the process used to finish round bores using abrasive stones to achieve close tolerances, excellent surface finishes & improved geometry. Specialist tubing is often only available in a standard range of sizes & so it is necessary to use honing to produce non-standard sizes & finishes.
It can be more cost effective to bore, hone & turn a billet to produce bespoke precision tubing than it is to purchase a standard tube & hone to size.

During honing the workpiece can get higher size precision, geometric precision and surface roughness because of the honing strip keep a big contact area to working surface, the honing pressure is little, working part is clamped gentlely, it is easy to confirm the center automaticlly , and the relative movement is at low speed and little thermal deformation, it won’t exist the problem that interior hole surface burning and interior stress, with regard to processing deep bore , thin long hole, honing is more predominant than inside abrasion, Compare to hand operated or diamond reamer, the honing efficiency is several times of that. Another feature of honing is that the surface of honed part have cross net which are equivalent to numurous oil channel , there will be one layer of oil on the surface of workpiece to improve lubricat condition and increase service life of workpiece.
