 Hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (INN name: Hypromellose), also simplified as hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC), is a variety of nonionic cellulose mixed ethers. It is a semi-synthetic, inactive, viscoelastic polymer .This product is industrial grade HPMC, mainly used as the dispersing agent for PVC production and as the main assistant used in producing PVC suspension polymerization.

It is also used as thickener, stabilizer, emulsifier, excipient, water retention agent, and film-forming agent etc.in producing petrochemicals, building materials, paint removers, agricultural chemicals, inks, textiles, ceramics, paper. cosmetics and other products.

Typical Applications of HPMC:

 

Tile Adhesive
  • Good water retention: prolonged opening time will make tiling more efficient.
  • Improved adhesion and sliding resistance: especially for heavy tiles.
  • Better workability: lubricity and plasticity of plaster is ensured, mortar can be applied easier and quicker.
Cement Plaster / Dry mix mortar
  • Easy dry mix formula due to cold water solubility: lump formation can be easily avoided, ideal for heavy tiles.
  • Good water retention: prevention of fluid loss to the substrates, the appropriate water content is kept in mixture which guarantees longer concreting time.
