Carboxy methylcellulose, white flocculent powder, odorless, tasteless, non-toxic. It is easy to dissolve in water and form transparent colloidal liquid with neutral solution.

It is stable to light and heat. It has hygroscopicity. It is insoluble in acids, cresol, ethanol, acetone, chloroform, benzene, etc., but insoluble in methanol and ether.

Cellulose derivatives with carboxymethyl substitutes are prepared by treating cellulose with sodium hydroxide to form alkali cellulose and reacting with chloroacetic acid. Glucose units that make up cellulose have three replaceable hydroxyl groups, so products with different degrees of replacement can be obtained.

Application scope:

The dosage of soybean milk, ice cream, ice cream, jelly, beverage and canned food is about 1% ~ 1.5%.
