ZDDQ ZDB Series Lighting Arrester Over Voltage Protection Device

ZDB series lighting arrester over voltage prodection device is China ZDDQ Self-developed patented products with our own Independant R&D teams since 2001,it enjoys a high reputation for non accidents for 19 years.The lightning arrester protects the electrical equipment from lightning. It is placed very near to the equipment and when the lightning occurs the arrester diverts the high voltage wave of lightning to the ground.



This product is a gapless series protector, mainly for the protection of 35KV and below high voltage motors, transformers,shunt compensation capacitors, switches, cables, electric furnaces, power station distribution equipment, rectifier equipment, generators, electrolyzers and other electrical equipment. Relatively insulated from operating overvoltage and atmospheric overvoltage damage, it can effectively limit the amplitude of overvoltage to the insulation resistance level of electrical equipment, protect the insulation of electrical equipment, and maintain the safe operation of electrical equipment.This product adopts zinc oxide varistor with excellent performance. It has large flow capacity of 2ms, excellent volt-ampere characteristics, small residual voltage ratio, high resistance to 4/10us high current impact level, suitable operating voltage and reliable.




Working of Lightning Arrester
When a travelling wave reaches the arrestor, its sparks over at a certain prefixed voltage as shown in the figure below. The arrestor provides a conducting path to the waves of relatively low impedance between the line and the ground. The surge impedance of the line restricts the amplitude of current flowing to ground.
The lightning arrester provides a path of low impedance only when the travelling surge reaches the surge diverter, neither before it nor after it. The insulation of the equipment can be protected if the shape of the voltage and current at the diverter terminal is similar to the shape shown below.

Arrester Selection 
The proper selection and application of lightning arresters in a system involve decisions in three areas: 
1. Selecting the arrester voltage rating. This decision is based on whether or not the system is grounded and the method of system grounding. 
2. Selecting the class of arrester. In general there are three classes of arresters. In order of protection, capability and cost, the classes are: Station class Intermediate class Distribution class The station class arrester has the best protection capability and is the most expensive.
