 Light one is white, friable masses or bulky, white powder, odorless. Relative density is 2.2. Melting point is 350℃. It’s stable in air. When heated to 700℃, it decomposes to carbon dioxide and magnesium oxide. It’s almost insoluble in water, but it imparts a slight alkaline reaction. It is insoluble in ethanol, but dissolves, with effervescence, in dilute acids.
