Solid braid cord is constructed in a 12 or 18 carrier (strand) configuration.Lightweight and abrasion resistant, this cord has a similar look and feel of nylon rope. This cord will not absorb water and will float. Many colors are widely available. Primary uses are flag halyards, horse leads, tent lines, and tie down lines.
Diamond braid, where the strands - usually 8, 12, 16, 24 or 32 strands for the products we're discussing are braided in over and under patterns.Diamond braided rope may be made with or without a core. When made without a core (hollow braid polypropylene is a popular example) it's very easy to splice, but is usually not very round or firm and it flattens when used over pulleys.
An economical general utility cord, composite diamond braids are made from a variety of fibers such as spun nylon, polyester, and polypropylene yarns. This cord works best in applications such as overhead garage pull, tie down, draw cord, and clothesline.
