Part 1 Preparing Bonnet

1.Make sure your tank is completely empty.

2.Remove the three set screws at the top of the regulator with a 3/32 hex key (allen wrench).

Part 2 Bonnet Removal

1.Now that the set screws have been removed it is time to remove the bonnet.

2.With a 10-32 screw or the Ninja Bonnet Removal Tool, hand tighten the screw all the way down into one of the holes that held a set screw. When the screw is in all way in unscrew it 2 full turns and use the screw as leverage to rotate the bonnet counter clockwise.

Part 3 Internal Removal

1.Most of the time the piston and all the regulators internals will remain in the bonnet. If not the piston will be stuck in the base, just a light pull and it should come right out.

2.If any of the internals are in the base of the regulator remove them.

Part 4 Removing Shims

Before ships regulators,we bench test them and add shims to fine to the pressure to 750PSI.

This means that the amount of shims can vary regulator to regulator.Removing all the red shim(s) will make the regulator very close to 500 PSI.

Remove the red shim(s) in the bottom of the regulator base.We used an o-ring pick to do this.You can also give the regulator a good tap on a hard surface and they should fall out.

Part 5 Place all the internals back into the bonnet.

If you have the pin valve regulator the only difference is the regulator uses a pin instead of the ball bearing and the spring that contacts the pin will be shorter.

Part 6 Regulator Reassembly

1.Screw the bonnet back onto the regulator base. The bonnet should be hand tight, do not use the tool or screw  to tighten.

2.Reinstall set screws.

3.Bam, you have a low pressure regulator.
