Carbopol/Carbomer 940
The water swelling property of Carbopol 940 mainly depends on the crosslinking density of the polymer. If the crosslinking density is too high, Carbopol 940 cannot completely swell, cannot be uniformly dispersed in the water, and even produces stratification.If the density of cross-linking is too low, although its water solubility is excellent, it reduces its gelation, resulting in a decreased thickening effect.In addition, the transmittance of Carbopol 940 is closely related to its water swelling property.
