Product Description

Standard Wiegand communication convertor is designed for transfer Wiegand data (26bit,34bit or 37bits,48bits,66bits,ect.) with other device which have Wiegand input interface. It mainly use for hand-held testing tool or embedding into products manufactured by third-parties, especially for our RFID and access control system solution.

The converter support double-way transmission, can transfer Wiegand 26bit or Wiegand34bit data to RS232 data, also can transfer data via RS232 interface to Wiegand 26bit or Wiegand 34bit data.

Standard Wiegand output 34bit data in default (Wiegand 26bit and other format as optional), standard RS232 output ASCII number (hex format as optional) with communication protocol based on 9600,N,8,1 standard.

Baud rate: 9600 (N, 8, 1)

How to transfer data:
The converter transfer data based on standard RS232 protocol, Baud Rate 9600 N 8 1

There have two mainly application for data transfer:

1. Transfer Wiegand output data to RS232

In this application, request transfer Wiegand output data to host via our converter, for example RFID reader, barcode scanner, fingerprint reader, face identify machine and any other devices have Wiegand output, usually it output Wiegand 26bit or 34bit, so you can connect this device with our Wiegand input, and the converter shall transfer to our RS232 interface.

Most time, RFID reader output Wiegand output as HEX, for example

4 byte number: 1010795316 = (hex) 3C3F8334

WG26 input (hexadecimal) 3F8334

WG34 input (hexadecimal) 3C3F8334

So RS232/RS485/USB(virtutal COM) output ASCII like this:

1010795316 for Wiegand 34bit (3C3F8334)

06333588 for Wiegand 26bit (3F8334)

0D 0A is a carriage return

Wiegand 26bit or 34bit data output transfer to our converter, our converter output max 10 digit ASCII number, for example: 1234567890, over this, the data shall send out separate.

2. Transfer ASCII output data to Wiegand output

In this application, most customers transfer data from their own software, for example, sending 1234567890 from COM to our RS232 input interface, so our Wiegand output interface shall output data as Wiegand 34bit, connect to access controller, you can see access control software show a card number: 1234567890. The same application, if a barcode scanner connect to access controller via our converter, so when the barcode scanner output 11223344, so the access control software shall show 11223344.

Remark: please note Wiegand to RS232 converter there have male and female option for choose. When it connects with a barcode scanner, in most case, should be order male type since most popular RS232 barcode scanners are Female type RS232 interface.
