We use Himalayan organic bamboo. After cutting a large bamboo stock a new stock grows back to around 65ft within 2 years. Bamboo stocks are boiled in pure water, dried, heat treated, carved and a natural wax coat applied. Bristles are pressure implanted into each hole.

Our bamboo toothbrush handles can be composted in normal commercial composting conditions. Bamboo is biodegrade and returns to the earth within 6 months.

For an eco-friendly disposal, you can pluck the bristles with pliers and compost your bamboo handle. Check with your local recycling if they recycle nylon bristles otherwise they will have to go in the trash.

2. Are they single-use/disposable?
- We know it’s hard to believe such sturdy looking Areca Leaf Products are intended for single-use, but our line is fully biodegradable and compostable. Since we do not use any bonding agents, lacquers or chemicals and our product is natural and porous, we cannot legally recommend washing and reusing them.
We can, however, tell you that our customers often write in that they hand wash the plates and enjoy them time and again.

3. What are your products made from? Please explain.
- Arbhuware Palm Leaf Tableware is made from naturally fallen palm leaves from Areca nut Palm trees and is heat pressed into shapes. No chemical is used in its production. It naturally biodegrades when exposed to elements in the compost bin or at the tip. These are microwave safe, can hold hot and cold foods, sturdy and oven safe to 220°C for 15 minutes.

4. How to store Areca Leaf products?

-Any airtight packing should suffice. All leftover plates must be wrapped to avoid absorbing moisture.

5. Do Areca Leaf products hold liquids?
-Yes it can hold liquids, soups, smoothies etc.


6. Are Areca Leaf products recyclable?
-No. Recycling involves melting permanent materials (i.e. metals, glass, plastic etc), and reforming them for reuse. Since our products are made from leaves, they are compostable and will naturally return to the earth in 2 months.

7. Is it safe to put Areca Leaf products in a microwave, oven or fridge?
-Yes, Areca Leaf products are significantly more durable than plastic or paper plates. It’s perfectly safe to heat Areca Leaf products in microwave for up to 2 minutes or in an oven up to 350 degrees for 45 minutes. You can also store Areca Leaf products in a refrigerator or freezer.

8. Will these products affect the taste of my food?
-No. Areca Leaf products won’t alter the taste of your food in any way. They also have no lacquers on them, so there’s nothing to leach into your food- something that can happen with plastics or PLA plastics (aka bioplastic).

9. Are these clean? Do I need to wash them before I use them?
-You can serve meals on our products straight out of the package. All Arbhuware Areca Leaf products are cleaned twice in our factory. They are ready to use. However, if you wish you can wipe them before use.
