Banslochan or Tabashir is a translucent white substance, composed mainly of Silica and Water with Traces of Lime and Potash, obtained from the Nodal Joints of some Species of Bamboo.
It absorbs good amount of water but does not get easily dissolved in water. Banshlochan is astringent, sweet in taste and has a cooling effect.
Banslochan is used in healing bones, skin, teeth and oral care, hair, nails and more. Banshalochan provides strength, flexibility and resilience to collagen and elastin connective tissues. This medicinal plant is useful in preventing osteoporosis as well.
According to Ayurveda, it increases immunity, so it is a main ingredient of Sitopaladi Churna used as immuno-modulator. It is a very effective medicine for cold and running nose.
