With a build volume of up to 610L, the XceL 3D Printer from Leapfrog can create life-size prints with high levels of precision.
Designed for prototyping and production purposes, it features a single extruder nozzle, although a second optional extruder is
available if a dual extrusion system is needed. When equipped with one extruder, the XceL can create objects with a build volume
of up to 21.2 x 20.5 x 91.3". With two extruders, its build slightly decreases to 20.1 x 20.5 x 91.3". However, using two
extruders allows for the use of two colors or types of filament in one print.
Leapfrog has fitted the XceL with a 1mm nozzle, which will print layer resolutions from 100 to 600 microns. However, when fitted
with an optional 0.35mm nozzle, it can print down to 10 microns. Printing is done using 1.75mm PLA filaments, such as Leapfrog
Maxx Essentials and Maxx Pro. The XceL is equipped with a closed print chamber, a heated granite composite bed with PerfectLevel
automatic Z-axis leveling, an automatic loading function with filament detection, and a color LCD touchscreen. Users may print
their compatible .gcode files via Ethernet and Wi-Fi connectivity. Included is a power cord, and protection is provided by a
limited 1-year warranty.
General Features
Smart 3D Printed Objects
The patented PerfectLevel auto calibration system will save you time and money by efficiently calibrating the printer bed before
each use. This way you can rely on your printer to be ready when necessary to create smart 3D printed objects. The XceL is also
equipped with an auto-loading filament function with filament detection, which lets it know when to stop printing, allowing the
filament to be swapped out as needed. Overall system control is executed using an integrated touch screen.
3D Printer Software
Leapfrog has developed software to help improve the workflow of 3D printing on the XceL. The interface is user-friendly, as the
software can be accessed via Wi-Fi on your phone, tablet, and Windows system. This means that you can upload your print to the
XceL and start printing without leaving your seat.
With this software, you can monitor your 3D printed object and see in one glance how much filament remains, determine how much
time is left, and pause or resume your print via Wi-Fi. Accessing g.code from one machine and moving it to another can all be done
via any device with Wi-Fi and a browser.
The XceL is one of the largest industrial grade 3D printer models available on the market. With a large build volume of 610L and
big 3D printed objects, the software has to run smoothly so that the results are as expected.
Large Build Volume
The XceL is a large 3D printer with a build volume of up to 610L. When combined with its size, other features such as its
10-micron layer resolution, closed environment, and dual extruders present unique printing opportunities. However, as print sizes
increase, so do print times, and Leapfrog has increased the filament flow of the Xcel. While a standard printer would have a flow
of around 6mm3/s, the XceL has a flow of up to 45mm3/s.
In order to print so big, the XceL uses PLA filament and the Leapfrog software. As an industrial-grade printer, the Leapfrog XceL
can be used for both prototyping and production and can withstand long working hours.
Closed Environment
The XceL is a dual extrusion 3D printer with a closed environment. The design includes a sliding door that easily gives you access
to your prints. A closed environment helps you get much higher quality in your prints by having a constant temperature during the
entire process. Since print times do increase with larger prints, having a closed environment is important for consistency.
Updates
Automated updates for the XceL are available via the Internet. Connect the printer to your network and the latest version of the
software will be downloaded and installed in a matter of minutes.
