Product Description
2379 is a molybdenum and vanadium based cold work tool steel containing high carbon and chromium. It is a steel with good hardenability, homogeneous hardness distribution ability and temper resistance. It is an alloy with high wear resistance, which is frequently used in cutting, forming and plastering tools.

It is a high carbon and chromium alloy cold work steel. Although its hardenability is very good, it can maintain its durability up to 62hrc. This material, which has very good abrasion resistance, is used in many applications.
Usage areas
This steel, which has very good abrasion resistance, can be used in all tools that need long-term use. Form dies, pipe dies,
cutting tools, stamping tools, wood forming dies, plastic die tooling. The toughness of this steel is better than D3, and its
hardening ability is also good.

Soft Annealing
It is heated to 840-880C and allowed to cool slowly. As a result of this process, it is possible to decrease up to 255 Brinell
hardness.
Stress Relief annealing
Thanks to this process, the stresses that occur in the material after machining are minimized. First of all, the piece is heated to 650-700C and kept at this temperature for 1 hour. It is then left to cool in air.
Hardening
The part, which is heated up to 1000-1040C, is kept in a 500-550C bath with a rapid cooling in oil. Depending on the tempering degree after processing, hardnesses of 62-64Hrc are reached.
tempering
It can be made in the range of 150-550C according to the desired hardness degree.

2379 is a steel with low machinability. It has a 50% lower machinability compared to the water-hardening steel group.

It can be welded with special electrodes.
