• Traditional Japanese Crafts
• These wine glasses were made as an homage to the famous work Scroll Tray with Bittersweet Vine and White-Eyes in Makie (nationally designated important cultural property), a collaboration between the makie artist Hara Yoyusai and Sakai Hoitsu, a prominent painter of the Edo Rimpa school. Lacquer artisans paint the intricate design by hand.
• They were designed so that the vines trail down the stem of the glass. We feel that they are elegant and preserve the feel of the original work of art.
• Mainly popular as a gift item in department stores.
• The majority are purchased by individuals, but they are used by some Morioka wine bars.

Joboji Urushi Workshop expresses the elegance of traditional Japanese lacquer art in a variety of modern products, opening up new possibilities for lacquer.
