Vinyl Acetate Monomer/VAM CAS 108-05-4 solvent for multi-use adhesives
Vinyl acetate is colorless liquid with sweet ether flavor. Slightly soluble in water. Vinyl acetate is active and flammable, and its vapor and air can form explosive mixtures. Can react strongly with oxidant. Vinyl acetate is easily polymerized by heat, light, or trace amounts of peroxide, and products containing inhibitors can polymerize violently when exposed to peroxide.
Vinyl acetate is mainly used in the production of polyvinyl alcohol resin and synthetic fiber. Its monomer can be copolymerized to produce adhesives of various uses. Also can be used as paper/cloth/wood/leather adhesives.
