Product Description
Key locking threaded inserts are also known as key inserts, keyserts, or keenserts.
Keyserts provide a strong, permanent thread in a weaker parent material. These easy to install and remove tools are commonly used to repair threads on ferrous, non-ferrous, or non-metallic metals like aluminum and magnesium. Key inserts are not recommended for use in brittle materials like cast iron and plastic.
For thread repair, key inserts can be used if the defected thread is replaced with a key insert of the same nominal diameter.
Keenserts feature locking keys that provide a mechanical lock that cannot be rotated due to vibration or torsion. They can be installed with standard drills and taps with no specialty tools required.
Regular changing of parts can wear down threads over time, especially when they are made from softer metals.

Donghai offers two types of Key inserts include:
- Heavy Duty Key Inserts: Feature a thick, heavy-duty thread wall and are suitable for most applications.
- Thinwall Key Inserts: Have a smaller OD thread size than standard and heavy-duty keenserts. These parts are ideal for use in tight spaces where less pull-out strength is acceptable.

How To Install Key Locking Thread Inserts
Thread inserts are ideal for reinforcing threads when a bolt or stud is frequently installed and removed without diminishing a hole's hold strength. Thread inserts provide a strong, durable solution for threads within weaker materials when used correctly.Key inserts do not need special tools for installation, however, they come in handy to ensure a perfect installation. Key insert installation tools serve as both a wrench and an impact tool for driving the locking keys into parent holes.
Key Inserts are installed using standard drills and taps, but the required tap-drill size is slightly larger than normal for that OD thread size. Locking keys must be driven down into the parent material during installation, providing a positive mechanical lock against rotation.
Donghai Industrial offers a series of instructions on how to install and remove our threaded inserts by hand or using an installation tool.
1. Drill out the old thread / parent hole / receiving hole using tap drill we provided (Important: Correct tap drill is slightly larger than standard for that thread size).
2. Countersink (82° – 100°) the hole if necessary.
3. Tap new planned thread with a standard tap.
4. Screw in insert until body is slightly (0.3 to 0.7mm) below the surface, by hand or using installation tool.
5. Drive keys down with several light hammer taps on installation tool (or directly on keys if no installation tool is available).
6. Finished.
How To Remove Key Locking Threaded Inserts
1. Drill out locking keys with specified drill diameter and depth
2. Bend the locking keys inwards and break them off.
3. Remove the old insert with a
