There are two kinds of magnesium chloride:anhydrous magnesium chloride and hexahydrate magnesium chloride.The shape of magnesium chloride: generally flake, block, crystal, particle and powder. The content of about 46% is magnesium chloride hexahydrate, 99% is anhydrous magnesium chloride.

Usage of magnesium chloride:

1. Metallurgical industry:

A binder used in the manufacture of refractories and furnace arms, and a raw material for the manufacture of No. 2 fluxes and the smelting of magnesium metals.

2. Chemical Industry:

It is mainly used to make various magnesium salts, such as magnesium oxide, magnesium hydroxide, magnesium carbonate, firecracker fixation agent, and also used as raw materials for antifreeze.

3. Building materials:

Magnesia cement made of hard and corrosion resistant magnesia cement with Magnesia bitter earth (MgO) can be made into artificial marble, bitter earth tile, floor, ceiling, decorative board, fire board, greenhouse bracket, partition board, magnesia manhole cover, bathtub, door and window frame and mobile home, etc.

4. Machinery industry:

In daily life, it can be made into mechanical packing boxes, triangular cushions and furniture, etc. It is a good material to replace the material with earth.

5. Food Industry:

Tofu made with brine (magnesium chloride aqueous solution) is more tender and delicious than tofu made with stone. It is also used as an additive in some foods.

6. Transportation Industry:

Used as road ice melting and snow melting agent, ice fast, less corrosive to vehicles, higher than sodium chloride effect. 

 7. Agriculture:

Can be used as magnesium fertilizer, potassium magnesium fertilizer and cotton defoliant.
