Polypropylene, PP for short, is a polymer of propylene by adding polymerization. It is a waxy white material, transparent and light in appearance [4]. The chemical formula is (C3H6)n, the density is 0.89 ~ 0.91g/cm3, [1] flammable, melting point is 164~170℃, [17] at about 155℃ softening, the use temperature range is -30 ~ 140℃ [2]. Under 80℃ can resist acid, alkali, salt solution and a variety of organic solvent corrosion, can decompose under high temperature and oxidation action. Polypropylene is a thermoplastic synthetic resin with excellent performance. It is a colorless translucent thermoplastic lightweight general purpose plastic with chemical resistance, heat resistance, electrical insulation, high strength mechanical properties and good high wear-resisting machining properties [5]. It is widely used in the production of clothing, blankets and other fiber products, medical instruments, automobiles, bicycles, spare parts, transportation pipes, chemical containers, and also used in food and medicine packaging.Features:

impact strength 1-2 kJ/m2. Rockwell hardness R95~105;
3. Good heat resistance, continuous use temperature can reach 110-120℃;
4. Good chemical stability, except for strong oxidant, and most chemicals do not react; At room temperature solvent is not % 20% can dissolve PP, only some halogenated compounds, aromatics and high boiling point aliphatic hydrocarbons can make it swelling, water resistance is particularly good;
5. Excellent electrical performance, good resistance to high frequency electrical insulation parts, also has good electrical insulation in wet environment;
6. As there are many tertiary carbon atoms with methyl on the main chain of PP, hydrogen on tertiary carbon atoms is vulnerable to attack by oxygen. Therefore, the weather-aging resistance of PP is poor, and antioxidant or ultraviolet absorber must be added
7. Mice were intragastric at the dose of 8g/kg for 1-5 times, and no obvious poisoning symptoms were caused. After inhaling the decomposition products of polypropylene heated to 210 ~ 220℃ for 30 times, rats showed symptoms of irritation of ocular mucosa and upper respiratory tract. Like polyethylene, it is prohibited to use recycled products in food.
