As a light metal, lithium is widely used in industrial production due to its advantages of toughness, ductility and chemical activity. Currently used in the industrial field of lithium ore types are lithium pyroxene, lithium mica, lithium phosphorite, iron lithium mica and lithium feldspar. Because of the different types, its beneficiation process is not the same.




Lithium Ore Beneficiation Process
Different lithium ores have different properties, and the low content of lithium oxide in minerals, mineral composition is different, so lithium ore beneficiation methods are also different. At present, the common lithium ore beneficiation process mainly has flotation, magnetic separation, heavy media beneficiation and joint beneficiation method.


Flotation Process
The flotation process is suitable for industrially valuable lithium ores, especially lithium ores that exist as fine grained dips. Common lithium ore flotation methods include positive flotation and reverse flotation.


Positive Flotation Method
Lithium ore in fine grinding (try to avoid over-grinding and lead to mud phenomenon), add strong alkali flotation, in the alkaline medium in high concentration, strong agitation, many times scrubbing desliming, add oleic acid and its soap salts as a trapping agent to directly flotation out of the lithium concentrate, leaving the vein minerals in the tank, the process does not require the addition of inhibitors.
Reverse Flotation Method
With the alkaline environment created by lime, adding starch, dextrin and other substances to inhibit the upward flotation of lithium ore, while the use of cationic collectors to make silicate vein minerals float to the surface of the slurry, the flotation machine tank product that is the lithium concentrate. If the lithium ore contains iron minerals, can add foaming agent (such as HF, resin acid salt) to further help remove iron minerals and other impurities.


Heavy Media Beneficiation
Heavy media beneficiation method is suitable for lithium pyroxene ore with coarse crystallization size, and the specific gravity difference between lithium ore and associated minerals is between 0.2-0.5g/cm3. The method is to mix the washed lithium ore with heavy media (mainly heavy suspension), and then enter the cyclone for separation under the pressure of 0.05-0.20Mpa. The heavy product becomes lithium concentrate after de-mediation treatment, and the light product becomes tailings after de-mediation, and the main components are quartz, feldspar, black mica and other associated minerals. Heavy media beneficiation method is simple to operate, and can effectively separate the ore with small difference in specific gravity.


Magnetic Separation
Magnetic separation is mainly applied to lithium pyroxene ores containing iron impurities. This method utilizes the principle of weak magnetism of iron impurity minerals in lithium pyroxene, and removes these iron impurities through strong magnetic separation, so as to obtain lithium pyroxene concentrate with low iron content. The magnetic separation method is characterized by simple operation, controllable process and strong adaptability.
Combined Concentrator
Accompanying complex composition of lithium ore in nature, a single beneficiation method is sometimes difficult to get qualified lithium concentrate, in this case choose to use a joint process for lithium ore separation, such as: flotation-magnetic separation process, flotation-selection-magnetic separation process, flotation-chemical treatment process and so on.


Working Flow




Lithium beneficiation equipment production process mainly includes crushing, grinding, flotation and drying four links.

Large lithium ore through the jaw crusher for coarse crushing; coarse crushing of qualified ore into the ball mill fine powder, the use of steel balls and the impact of the ore to achieve the effect of full grinding, so that the useful minerals are completely dissociated; grinding slurry in the mixing tank fully stirred and uniform, quantitatively into the flotation machine, add the appropriate amount of chemicals to be fully reactive, so as to obtain lithium concentrates; finally, lithium concentrates into the drying machine dewatering and drying, to obtain the finished lithium concentrate powder; the final production process includes four links: crushing, grinding and drying of lithium concentrates. Finally, the lithium concentrate is dewatered and dried in the dryer to obtain the finished lithium concentrate powder.
