V-MARK™ Reflective Material- Microprismatic Retroreflective Technology Conspicuity Markings P2-ECE-104 Series is highly retroreflective microprismatic markings designed to mark the sides and rear of vehicles for enhanced visibility and detection. The reflective marking consists of prismatic lenses that are formed in a transparent PVC layer, topped with a weather resistant PET layer, and backed with a pressure sensitive adhesive and clear poly liner.

Glass bead reflective technology is over 60 years old. In a glass bead reflective system, light strikes the back surface of the bead and returns to its source. Glass bead technology differs from microprismatic technology in that reflective glass beads vary in size and placement, therefore creating inconsistency in the reflectivity. This technology returns light by as much as 30% unless affected by heavy rainfall that cause the reflective optics to scatter the light rather than reflect to the source causing blackouts of the reflective material until it dries again.
Micro Prismatic Retro-Reflective Technology
Prismatic is more efficient and returns about 80% of the light sent to it. Therefore it's brighter than glass bead tape. Prismatic tape reflects light via man made prisms. Since the mirrors are flat and not curved they are more efficient. The light sent from the tape is more focused and can therefore travel farther still be seen. For long distance applications like DOT regulated trucks or coast guard search and rescue a prismatic tape is a must. In summary, both glass bead and prismatic tapes have their purpose and will continue to keep people safe and visible for years to come.
