Hydroxyethyl cellulose (HEC) is a nonionic water-soluble polymer made from natural cellulose. It is a white or yellowish powder, which is easily dispersed and dissolved in cold water or hot water to produce solutions with different viscosities. The products are mainly used as rheological regulators, thickeners, water-retaining agents, suspending agents, binders, stabilizers, and protective colloids.
