Product Details

A skilled worker opens a vacuum furnace. A batch of single crystal blades have just been cast in the furnace. In the photo, the blades are still in the ceramic mold and have not yet been removed. These molds have a cooling plate beneath them that controls the temperature of the molten metal flowing into the mold—temperature is a crucial secret that determines whether the molten metal can condense into a single crystal that is no longer separated by many crystal lattices. Such leaves naturally possess the indestructible body.

This spiral thing is the "spiral crystal selector" in the manufacturing of single crystal turbine blades. It is part of the mold, and the molten metal enters the part-shaped cavity of the mold through this spiral channel - this spiral maze ultimately only allows a single crystal to reach the top and continue to grow, and finally grows into a single crystal blade, waiting for technicians to come "Harvest". Each harvested single crystal blade will have a spiral tail, which is called "pigtail" in English. This tail is cut off to produce the rough blade, as shown in this photo. Engineers have cleaned its surface with acid to reveal the grain structure and direction of the metal. At the bottom of the tail, we will see that many grains grow from bottom to top, and at the upper part of the spiral channel, the veins of multiple grains disappear, leaving only one grain that continues to grow upward, eventually forming a single grain at the top.
